4. Improved Safety The use of paint contains various volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and potentially harmful chemicals. Manual painting exposes workers to these substances, posing health risks. However, by employing robots for spraying tasks, companies can reduce worker exposure to hazardous materials, creating a safer work environment.

From a technical standpoint, automated spray coating systems utilize state-of-the-art robotics and control systems to deliver coatings with a high degree of accuracy. This reduces material waste, increases productivity, and enhances the quality of the finished product. Moreover, built-in sensors and feedback mechanisms allow for real-time adjustments, ensuring optimum performance even under varying environmental conditions.

Understanding the Risks

Because of health risks, France banned titanium dioxide as a food additive in 2020. Two years later the European Union also banned titanium dioxide as a food additive.

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is a chemically inert inorganic compound and an insoluble white solid that occurs naturally in several minerals, including rutile, anatase, and brookite. It is created synthetically from the mineral ilmenite. It is an insoluble white solid. Anatase, when compared to brookite and routine, has the most industrial applications, but it is the most toxic form of TiO2.

Matthew Wright, chair of the authority's working group on titanium dioxide, noted that the evidence for general toxic effects was not conclusive, but that the panel couldn't rule out genotoxicity entirely. There were also some current data limitations and the assessment could not establish a safe level for daily intake of the food additive, he stated.

CSPI’s Chemical Cuisine is the web’s definitive rating of the chemicals used to preserve foods and affect their taste, texture, or appearance. Besides titanium dioxide, the group recommends avoiding artificial sweeteners like aspartame, acesulfame potassium, and sucralose, as well as synthetic food dyes like Yellow 5 and Red 3. CSPI and others have recently asked the Food and Drug Administration to ban the latter dye in foods and ingested drugs because the FDA has already determined that it is a carcinogen unsafe for use in cosmetics.
